USPBL BEACON - 2023 ALL-STARS
Here's the Annual USPBL Beacon All-Stars for the 2023 Season.
While there might not be any monetary bonuses associated with these prestigious awards, they will surly
make your front office, team, players and fans proud to have these fellows on your team.
The Beacon followed somewhat complicated guidelines in selecting their All-Stars:
* 26 players for each team.
* Each UPSBL Team has to have at least 2 players named (1 for Open teams). Usually the R and M League
leaders will have 4 selections each and the playoff teams 3 each.
*While the norm is to select 18 position batters and 8 pitchers, this may vary. (Ohtani counted as a P here)
* The player's performance in the USPBL is the primary focus, though their Strat Card is also considered.
Disclaimer: While there may be some players not selected who are better than those actually selected,
this comes down to the numbers from each team (as noted above) and the need to fill the positions.
Additional Notes regarding the actual All-Star league file -
I have not listed starters and reserves here. The idea is to get all or most of the players into each game.
And to offer variety to the lineups for multiple games, one can use the LH-RH starting lineups which is especially useful if using the AUTO play. (in which case you will get most positions players into the games
but not many pitchers). So it's suggested you play manually or use quick-play making substitutions on occasion.

The USPBL BEACON has honored these players and manager as their top picks for their Best in the
USPBL awards.
MVP BATTER OF THE YEAR:
AARON JUDGE of the Blue Ridge Mountain Menace (#1).
Judge led the USPBL in Homers with 70. He also led in RBI (143 ), Runs (132), OPS (1.077), and
Runs Created (162.9 / 9.4). Judge also was the Gold Glove winner in RF (1 E0 -4)).
Runners-Up: Also receiving consideration were Yordan Alvarez of the Chicken League Champs (#4) and
Paul Goldschmidt of the Virginia Vandals (#2).
MVP PITCHER OF THE YEAR:
CARLOS RODON of the Chicken League Champs (#4).
Rodon's finished his season going 24-4 with a 1.82 ERA. Rodon led all pitchers with an Opponent Batting Average of .164 and was 2nd in Strikeouts with 322.
Runners-Up: Also receiving a lot of consideration were Aaron Nola of the Lake Superior Riptide (#20) and
Corbin Burnes of the Midwest Xpress (#5).
MANGER OF THE YEAR:
DAN MODEL of the Santa Cruz Marauders (#16).
After finishing just 62-104 in 2022, Dan's off-season moves in both trades and drafts enabled him to reverse
that into a 102-64 record in 2023 and a spot in the playoffs. This was Dan's 36th Season in the USPBL
and he was the USPBL Champion in 2002 and 2016.
Other Managers getting votes were Jamie Chagnon who got into the playoffs after improving the Virginia Vandals (#2) from .422 to .578, and Ben Cunliffe of the Leopolis Mud Dogs (#17) who took the reins of a
team that had previously been open for several years and seems to have gotten them back on track gaining
14 wins.
