COMPUTER MANAGERS

All games except Netplay and Face-to-Face require Computer Managers.

You must submit your CM for the month by the 3rd of the month (except for April which is due on the 1st).

CMs are sent to your opponent for that month. You may include me (Jim) so I know it was sent. Plus when

I get a monthly CM, I will import it so the CM in the league file will contain your most recent version.

In the event that Auto-play is needed, I will use your default OR your most recent CM.

The COMPUTER MANAGER consists of these 5 categories:

PITCHERS, STARTER SCHEDULE, BATTERS, MANAGER TENDENCIES, SUPER HAL BASERUNNING.

PITCHERS: While we use the starter schedule, you still need to slide several pitchers into these Starter #1,

#2 etc slots anyway. They are not used, but if not done, an error will pop up saying there is no starter

scheduled. Just one of the many problems Strat has not addressed over their many decades.

There are also slots available to fill in your Set-Up pitchers and Closers.

This is presumably used if you do not use the SUPER HAL BULLPEN.

You can also click on individual pitchers here to assign a variety of usage preferences.

On the bottom of the page their is an option for the SUPER HAL BULLPEN. More on this later.

STARTER SCHEDULE: This must be filled out for the season at the start. It will ensure you have your

starters scheduled within their usage limits as well as having a reasonable rotation used in the event the

Auto-play needs to be employed. you are not required to stick with this starter schedule and may change it during the season.

Note that we rest our teams before each series and that each series while appearing on the schedule in a certain order, can be played in any order. Therefore a pitcher may start in game 3 of once series and still start in game 1 of the next series.

BATTERS: On the right there are slots for your Pinch Hitters, Pinch Runners and Defensive replacements.

There is also the option for PINCH at the bottom. Whether this must be used or not is unknown.

Unlike the Super Hal Bullpen which is blank until used, the PINCH is all the batters included. So whether

this will be used for the default or not is a good question. To be safe, I use the PINCH order. Since it's not

likely that more than a few Pinch hitters, runners will be used, having just the top few should suffice.

And like with the Pitcher menu, you can click on individual players for preferences.

MANAGER TENDENCIES and SUPER HAL BASERUNNING: These options can be set to your liking or they can be ignored and the game (HAL) will use it's fairly reasonable preferences.

SUPER HAL BULLPEN: The Super Hal Bullpen is optional. It's one of those things that's quite difficult to create but very useful once done. I've found that the game does a remarkably good job of following the Super Hal Bullpen.  You may need to adjust your settings on occasion to control usage.

Strat rules claim that if the Super Hal Bullpen isn't used, the game will employ their own RP preferences.

COPYING COMPUTER MANAGER/LOGIC.

A great thing included in the TEAM options is the ability to copy your Super Hal Bullpen, Manager Tendencies and Baserunning from prior seasons to the current one. So once done, you can simply use the same basic settings from season to season. I've been using the same ones since 2011. Naturally you do have to slide the current players into the desired positions but at least the general ideas are there.

You can even copy these Computer Manager Logics from another team. So if you don't get how to set up the Super Hal Bullpen, you can use mine. Strat does provide a tutorial within the Strat Rules.

DEFAULT LINEUPS:

Pretty obvious what you do here.

Remember that LINEUP #1 is the DEFAULT VS LHP and #2 is the DEFAULT vs RHP.

You can use as many lineups as you want. While everyone should automatically be checking Lineups,

you should note this just to make sure.

We use injuries but they are for the current series only.

PROMOTE/DEMOTE MINOR LEAGUERS:

Check the players you  want active. Make sure all your UNCARDED players are UNCHECKED.

You are allowed (by Strat) to have up to 25 batters and 13 pitchers active.

Make sure you are following this. Failure to do so will cause irregularities in your lineups.

THE USPBL SEASON

Okay, the preceding are  mostly rules and settings from the Strat side of things.

As for the USPBL rules, here's what you need to know.

* Default Computer Managers with a full season's Starter Schedule is required to be sent to me (Jim)

by April 1st.

* Computer Mangers are required by the 3rd of the month, thus allowing time to check your previous month's

results. Including me with each month's CM is optional but recommended to ensure your most recent

CM is included in the league file.

Note that CMs can be sent for use in multiple months. WIS for example tends to send them out for two scheduled months. While we follow a month to month schedule, series within each month can be played in any order. You should send your CMs only to those that you intend to be played. If you send me an August CM in May, I may very well play that series in May.

*  Results are due by the end of each month. There are allowances made for Face-to-Face and Netplay series. However make sure your opponent and commish are aware of such delays.

Even with these delays, the series still must be played within a reasonable time frame. (See USPBL Rules).

You will be fined for missing deadlines. Fines increase with each repeated infraction. (See USPBL Rules).

Make sure to follow the Pre-Series/Game checklist. Failure to adhere to this will result in protests.

After a series is played, you will included the following files, preferably zipped.

All the GAME FILES which is 2 for each game. These are in the Export folder . If you use the EXPORT

GAME RESULTS in the Statistics menu the files will export to where ever you direct them, AND they will

automatically move into your EXPORTED folder.

All the boxscores (PRT files) and and play account (PAC files) which are in the PRINT folder.

There's also something called a TEMP file but I don't know what that is. You can ignore that.

The GAME and PRINT files are set to save automatically. However, you must remember that after the

game, that you have to select GET BOXSCORE rather than just end game. Otherwise it might not save.

Send these files to 3 parties: Your opponent, the league office (Jim) and Scott. Scott will maintain a duplicate league file to ensure that we don't lose everything in the event of a catastrophe like my computer crashing  (which has happened before).

LEAGUE FILE LZP UPDATES

League Files (Stat Files) are sent out at random intervals throughout the season, depending mostly on

when batches of results come in. Still,, you can request a league file at any time which can be especially useful before netplaying.

Using the RESTORE LEAGUE will override your current file with whatever I have in my file.

Therefore you should always save your current CM in case you need to re-import it to your own team.

This is also why you should wait before playing to import your opponent's CM and Ballpark as using

the Restore league may change what you have imported.
