The USPBL Season begins with the "Pre-Money Draft" information each year. The official date marking the end of one season and the start of the next is October 15th. Ed becomes the first USPBL Commissioner Avalon Hill's Statis Pro Baseball is the game of choice. Brown's Sailors #7 win 1st ever USPBL World Series 1981: Nelson leads Croton Dammers #2 to a World Series victory. 1982: Nelson wins his 2nd World Series. 1983: Coss' #5 New York Highlanders win World Series. Jim Walsh's Wisconsin Dairymen #10 joins league. 1984: Coss' Highlanders and Chuck Shaeffer's Marietta Panthers become first teams to win 100+ games. Coss #5 repeats World Series win. Bart Walsh's Milwaukee Robins #14 enters the league. 1985: C Shaeffer #7 wins World Series. Joe Walsh joins the league running the Milwaukee Manticores #6. 1986: USPBL switches to the REPLAY Baseball Game when Statis-Pro prooves to be unsatisfactory. The league undergoes a large managerial turnover. Jim Walsh handed the Commisioner's job. Mark Carpenter brings his Slippery Rock Rockets to the USPBL. Rob Workman enters league with his Arsenal. #9 C Shaeffer #7 repeats World Series Win. 1987: Mark Hetterich's Pensacola Argonauts #8 win World Series. Joe Walsh departs ....for now. 1988: Chip Hendrick's Florida Suns #6 win World Series. Some USPBL teams are using computer versions of the Replay Game. Dan Model enters league with New York Thymes (Pacific Marauders)#16. 1989: Rob Workman becomes 3rd USPBL Commissioner. Slippery Rock Rockets #15 win World Series. Rodger Katter enters league with the Bluebombers (Cyclones). #8 Joe Walsh returns with new franchise, the Wizards (Still #6) He makes it to the World Series, losing to the Rockets. Bill Robison #5 joins with the "Original" Clare Cardinals. Pat Walsh joins with Team #7 for one season. 1990: Replay Games goes out of business. Opposition to majority's decision to use the Strat-O-Matic game causes numerous managers to depart. Recruiting through Strat-Fan Magazine begins. Cardinals start their reign of terror in World Series play, winning their first. 1991: Cardinals #5 Repeat their World series victory. Jim Walsh returns for 2nd term as Commissioner. 1992: Cardinals #5 Three-peat as they win World Series again. 1993: REO (Re-Organization Draft). Rob Workman makes over 400 calls as the USPBL re-forms 16 teams from scratch. Cards #5 have an entirely new team, but they still win 4th in a row. 1994: USPBL becomes a Computer-Only League. Cards #5 win 5th consecutive title. New commissioner Rob Workman returns for his 2nd term in office. 1995: Expansion arrives in the USPBL, as the league grows from 16 to 18 teams. Scott Adams and Darin Stephenson enter as the 17th and 18th teams with the Midwest Xpress #17 and Kentucky Colonels #18. Joe Walsh's Wizards stop the Cardinals in the playoffs. Rob Workman's Great Lake Arsenal #9 become new World Series champions. 1996: Arsenal #9 repeat as World Series Champs. Mark Carpenter becomes the 4th person to serve as commissioner. 1997: Cardinals #5 return to winning ways, claiming their 6th championship. 1998: Jim Walsh returns to start his 3rd term as Commissioner. Numerous managerial departures result in league operating with 16 teams, and leaving 2 teams to be run by Computer Managers. USPBL WEBSITE begins operation. Bill Robison departs...for now. Mark Carpenter #15 wins his 2nd World Series after a 9 year hiatus. 1999: USPBL begins it's 20th season!!! Stefan Feuerherdt joins with the Portland Pilots #7, then brings in 6 members of the former WHDL league to participate in the: RSD (Restructuring Draft). Players from 8 vacant teams are united into the RSD Pool and are drafted, forming 8 completely new teams. Eddie Freitas, former WHDL commish adds the Fairhaven Bulldogs. #2 Mark Sanner enters the Cape Crusaders #3 into the league. Mike Murphy arrives with the Phoenix Indians #4. Tony Abrantes and the Lisbon Lads #12 join . Wayne Tomczewski adds his Sassaquin Sapps. #13 The Rockets #15 then win their 3rd overall, 2nd in a row World Series. USPBL makes access to e-mail a requirement. 2000: Stefan Feuerherdt #7 breaks the string of usual World Series winners by defeating Dan Model's Firebirds.(Marauders) Bob Sarcewicz enters league with his Bucks County Bandits #11. USPBL makes Internet access a requirement as Newsletters begin to appear as Internet-Exclusives. 2001: Mike Carpenter #1 joins with the Blue Ridge Mountain Menace. Bill Robison returns with the New-franchise Clare Cardinals #5. Rodger Katter's Cyclones #8 defeats Dan Model's Firebirds in World Series, giving the USPBL 2 consecutive 1st time Champions. Longtime managers Rob Workman and Rodger Katter depart. 2002: Greg Smith enters with the Lebanon Lugnuts #8. Chris Sims takes over the Arsenal #9 mid-season and makes the Playoffs. (changes to franchise #2 after the season) Dan Model's Pacific Marauders #16 win the World Series, beating Tony Abrantes' San Francisco Lads in 6 games. Gregg Smith parts company. Darin Stephenson, one of two Expansion managers from 1995 leaves. 2003: Richie Waggoner enters the league with the Lynchburg Legion of Doom. #8 Craig Hale #18 joins us with the Montreal Monsters. Craig Hale's Monsters win the USBL World Series over Stefan's Pilots in 6 games. Steffan Feurerherdt leaves the league after 5 seasons. 2004: Expansion brings two more teams to the USPBL, now totaling 20 teams. Using a regular Expansion draft along with players from the Pilots, three new managers joined. Two did not make it through the season, the 3rd did. Chris Malitsky joins us with the Cherry Hill Redbirds #9 Scott Adams' Midwest Xpress #17 become the USPBL Champions defeating Mark Carpenter's Rockets. 2005: Brad Eckel joins us with the Lake Superior Riptide. #20 Ray Cash jumps in midseason with the Sharon Hill Silver Bullets. #19 Scott Adams #17 repeats as USPBL Champions defeating Chris Malitsky's Cherry Hill Redbirds. 2006: Mike Carpenter's Blue Ridge Mountain Menace #1 defeats Richie Waggoner's Roanoke Valley Doom to win the USPBL Championship. 2007: Tony Abrantes leaves before the season, and Eddie Freitas leaves at the season's end. Chris Curtis takes over Team 12 with the Penn Charter Road Warriors. Bill Robison's Clare Cardinals #5 win the USPBL Championship.... their 7th title....over Dan Model's Pacific Marauders 2008: John Ramsey takes the reins of Team 2 for the season only. Chris Sims #2 wins his first USPBL Championship defeating Mark Carpenter's Slippery Rock Rockets 2009: Jaimie Chagnon joins, taking over Team 2 with the Virginia Vandals. Mark Caprenter's Rockets win their 4th USPBL Championship. Mike Murphy retires from Team 4 Phoenix Indians. 2010: Jon Stamets becomes the skipper of Team 4, now called the San Luis Obispo Sluggers. Bill Robison's CRD Team 5 wins their 8th USPBL Championship over the Cherry Hill Redbirds. Chris Malitsky parts company with the Cherry Hill Redbirds Team 7. Chris Sims leaves the James River Raiders Team 9. 2011: Bernie Knauber joins, taking Team 9, now the Colorado Crusaders. Team 7 vacant. Bill Robison's CRD team 5 wins their 9th USPBL Championship over Mark Sanner's Ft Myers Manatees Team #3 2012: Team #7 is vacant no more as Dustin Ridgeway claims the team. New members are Tony Georgi's Poe White Trash #4, Jim (JJ) Walsh's Gilbert Gila Monsters #18 and Jack Neahusen's Reno Gamblers #9. Deja Vu all over again as Bill Robison's Clare Cardinals #5 win their 10th USPBL Championship over Mark Carpenter's Slippery Rock Rockets #15. 2013: Team #9 changes management again and becomes the Alabama Sharks, run by Gil Smith. Brad Eckel's LSR #20 wins his first USPBL Championship in 7 games vs Mark Carpenter's SRR #15, proving once again an Expansion team can win it all. (MIX #17, from the first expansion has two titles). 2014: The Chicken League Champs with skipper Rich Gillum takes over team #4. Scott Adams exits after 20 seasons and 2 championships. Gil Smith departs ALS #9. Brad Eckel's LSR #20 repeats as USPBL Champion, defeating Dan Model's SCM #16 for his 2nd title. 2015: Tim Wofford enters with the Las Vegas Aces #17. Team #9 remains open for the season, the first since 1998. Brad Eckel's LSR #20 "threepeats" defeating Mark Carpenter's SRR #15. 2016 Rob Lennon enters with the Elantris Aon Dor #9 Wofford leaves team #17 which reamins open for the season. Dan Model's Santa Cruz Marauders #16 defeats Brad Eckel's Riptide #20 for his 2nd USPBL Championship. 2017 Team #9, now called Orlando Bulldogs, remains open for most of the season with managers coming and going. Jay Snider takes the reins of #17, now the Janesville Jaybirds. Mike Carpenter's Blue Ridge Mountain Menace #1 defeats Jamie Chagnon's Virginia Vandals #2 for the USPBL Championship. This was Mike's 2nd title. 2018 Team #9 still open with Mark Carpenter serving as surrogate GM. USPBL Beacon ceases monthly publication after nearly 20 years of service. Brad Eckel's Ridtide #20 defeats Mark Carpenter's Rockets #15 for the USPBL Championship. This was Brad's 5th title. 2019 Chris Malitsky returns after an 8 year sabatical at the helm of the Cherry Hill Cardinals #9. Bill Robinson retires leaving commissioner Jim Walsh as the interim new skipper of team #5. The "All-Virginia" Championship series ends with Richie Waggoner's Roanoke Doom #8 falling to Mike Carpenter's Blue Ridge Mountain Menace. This was Mike's 3rd USPBL Championship. 2020 Scott Adams returns after a 5 year absence, once again leading the Midwest Xpress #5. Chris Curtis abandons the Penn Charte Warriors #12 after 8 seasons. Scott Adams fills in as GM for the team. MLB plays just a 60 game season and the USPBL reacts with some temporary plans for the 2021 USPBL season. Mark Carpenter's Slippery Rock Rockets #15 wins title number 5 by defeating 117 game winner Jamie Chagnon's Virginia Vandals #2. 2021 One Open team #12. MLB back to near-normal. USPBL uses temporary rules to account for the MLB Pandemic 60 game season. Rosters boosted to 42, R-Draft 9 rounds, and players given X3 pro-rated usage bonus. Jay Snider leaves the Janesville Jaybirds #17 at season's end. Jim Walsh's Wisconsin Dairymen #10 overtakes Brad Eckel's Lake Superior Riptide winning their first ever title in their 39th season. 2022 Teams 12 and 17 remain open for the season. Bob Sarcewicz BCB #11 retires from the USPBL after 23 seasons. Mark Carpenter SRR #15 wins the Championship, his 6th, defeating Brad Eckel's LSR #20. 2023 New usage rule takes effect. All players get a 110% boost. Tier system removed. Dave Gineo takes the helm of Team #12, now the Connecticut Crush. Ben Cunliffe joins with the Leopolis Mud Dogs #17. And Tyler Petrie now owns Team 11, the Eastside Hammerheads. Brad Eckels LSR #20 defeats Dustin Ridegeway's OTB #7 to win their 5th USPBL Championship. 2024 New USPBL rules set for the season making the "Current MLB Rules" the norm as well as adjusting the amounts awarded for the Year-End-Bonus. Jamie Chagnon leaves the Virginia Vandals #2 after 19 seasons. Mike Carpenter BRM #1 defeats Jim (JJ) Walsh GGM #18 to win their 4th USPBL Championship. 2025
